Release Notes

TRIM Context 6 was first released in October 2005 and generally distributed beginning January 2006. Since this date TOWER Software has received a lot of valuable feedback from customers. Service Packs 1 through 5 have addressed some reported issues.

This service pack 6 forms part of the planned release cycle and includes fixes to some of the problems that have been reported, but also includes improvements based on findings during the ongoing testing by TOWER Software’s product quality assurance team.

TOWER Software helps contain the impact of rolling out the new service pack in existing sites by sticking to its policy of not making database schema changes and maintaining the user interface largely unchanged.

The development and compilation of this service pack has been undertaken using Microsoft’s latest development environment. This means that to deploy the service pack you will require Windows Installer 3.0 as a minimum. If this version is not present in your environment, an update pack can be downloaded from the Microsoft Web site.

Each TRIM Context 6 service pack includes all fixes and enhancements that were shipped in previous ones. For details of the earlier service packs please refer to their release notes. For details on fixes and minor enhancements to the TRIM Context 6 SP6 client and servers, please refer to the TRIMSper.pdf file. For technical details refer to TRIMSpec.pdf.

Software Development Kit

This document describes the TRIM Context Software Development Kit (SDK). It provides an introduction to the design and content of the SDK, it gives instructions and guidance for using the various tools and objects, and is the logical starting point for the SDK documentation suite.

For those wanting to understand the capabilities of the SDK, this document can be read on its own. For those intending to use the SDK it serves as an orientation and introduction. For a complete technical understanding it is useful to view the TRIMSDK type library in the object browser of your chosen IDE, where you will find detailed helpstrings for each object, method and property in the COM Interfaces of the SDK.

Effective integration of TRIM with other applications using the TRIM Context SDK requires a technical understanding of the tools in the SDK, as well as a user perspective of the TRIM application in general and (most importantly) a business understanding of the particular implementation of TRIM and any other application for which an integration is required.
